Solo Plumbing & Heating specialises in heating and hot water installations and is an avid promoter and supporter of the use of energy saving and renewable energy systems.
Over the next few years the heating industry is set to alter dramatically and already changes are being implemented as evident in the new Building Regulations, Part L, regarding the conservation of energy. From April 2005 the revised regulations will make it illegal for engineers to fit conventional boilers and condensing boilers will be the only allowable option in most cases. This change is partly to address global warming and partly to reduce the consumption of oil and gas as global oil production starts to decline in the next few years, (our own North Sea oil will be exhausted by 2010).
Solo Plumbing & Heating can advise on and install alternative technologies that use little or no fossil fuels and a list of available systems is given below.

Renewable technology options are particularly applicable to architects and self-builders who are working on new build projects since they can be integrated easier and will often function better than when fitted into existing houses. Combined with underfloor heating and careful controls renewable energy systems can often give better results than standard systems but without the running costs.
It is worth understanding that these systems are a real alternative to standard heating technology and are used extensively across Europe especially in Sweden and Germany. As fuel prices rise they will become a reality for more and more households, new and existing, within the next decade.
